A Winnipeg man being held on child porn charges in the U.S. may now also face charges in Canada.
The FBI said it intercepted e-mails from Winnipegger Doron Waldman. The e-mails allegedly request two children to be supplied for sexual acts. Waldman didn't know it at the time, but he was actually communicating on-line with an undercover American police officer.
Police arrested Waldman at the Tuscon International Airport. According to documents obtained by CTV News, Waldman had $1,400 in cash and four digital cameras wrapped as gifts in his possession. He is in custody in Phoenix, Arizona and charged with traveling to the United States for the purpose of engaging in sexual contact with a person under the age of 18. The FBI said he was planning to travel on to Mexico.
The FBI asked the RCMP to search Waldman's computers in Winnipeg. As a result, RCMP have charged Waldman with three child porn related offences - although his charges in the U.S. will be dealt with before Waldman ever sees a Manitoba courtroom.
