The Winnipeg Parking Authority says it’s looking for a consultant to review the residential permit parking program and loading zones.

The deadline to submit a request for proposal is September 1, 2015, and a contract will be awarded by September 25, 2015.

The parking authority says the decision was made during strategic planning for the agency’s 2015 business plan.

According to the Winnipeg Parking Authority, a consultant will look at best practices across North America to see how to improve parking services for citizens, specifically as it pertains to residential parking and loading zones.

In an email statement, a spokesperson said, “The RFP that is currently out for tender aligns with a requirement in the downtown parking strategy (created in 2010) which aims to ensure loading zone requirements are balanced with the needs of patrons looking for on-street parking spaces, as well as those utilizing loading zones.”
