A suspect believed to be responsible for several robberies in the city of Winnipeg has been apprehended by police.

Following an investigation by members of the major crimes unit, police believe the same suspect was responsible for the following crimes:

-A vehicle theft in the 1200 block of Main Street and gas theft from the 900 block of Henderson Highway on Feb. 28, 2014.

-Two attempted robberies on March 4, 2014. One was in the 400 block of Notre Dame Avenue, and the other at business in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West.

-A commercial robbery in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street on March 8, 2014.

-Gas theft from the 900 block of Henderson Highway on March 17, 2014.

On March 18, 2014, police spotted a stolen vehicle in the area of River Avenue and Donald Street and stopped and arrested the suspect without incident.

Steven Peterson, 22, has been charged with several robbery and theft related offences for his alleged involvement in a string of incidents dating back to Feb. 28, 2014, said police.
