A member of the Winnipeg Police Service faces criminal charges Wednesday.

On Aug. 4, 2008, an off-duty member of the Winnipeg Police Service was allegedly involved in an altercation with a number of people in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Falcon Lake Detachment of the RCMP received a call to attend an incident. When they arrived at the park they received a formal complaint and conducted an investigation.

As a result of that RCMP investigation, and in consultation with Manitoba Justice, RCMP has laid criminal charges against a 46-year-old member of the Winnipeg Police Service.

Fifteen-year veteran Cst. Keith Zoroneck has been charged with two counts of Assault and Uttering Threats.

He has been released on a Promise to Appear with conditions.

He is presently on administrative leave pending an internal hearing to determine his employment status.
