Students at Ecole Romeo-Dallaird in Winnipeg had the chance to speak with Canada's new prime minister Wednesday.

Justin Trudeau held a Google Hangout with five schools from across the country.

He spoke to students in both French and English.

A Google Hangout is a free instant messaging and live video chat people can watch from their computer or mobile device.

The online session was Trudeau's first meeting in office.

It started less than an hour after his official swearing-in ceremony with the newly elected MPs wrapped up.

Trudeau was also sworn in as minister of intergovernmental affairs and youth.
