Share

Winnipeggers kicked off the new year with some family fun at The Forks.

Thousands of people came out to The Forks on Wednesday for New Year’s Day festivities that included live musicians, games and crafts, drag performances, and health and wellness classes.

Zach Peters, communications and marketing manager at The Forks, said there was something for everyone to enjoy.

“We’re ringing in 2025, celebrating New Year’s Day here at The Forks,” he said.

“There’s a wide variety of events going on…there’s music on the outdoor stage, people skating on the canopy rink. Inside the drag show is starting, there’s crafts upstairs for the kids, games being played. Obviously skating out here, skating on the Nestaweya River Trail. It’s really just a day of festivity here at The Forks.”

For those who missed out on the New Year’s Day event, you can still head out to The Forks for some winter fun.

On Tuesday, CTV News Winnipeg reported that the first portion of the Nestaweya River Trail is now open for people to skate.
