A young Yazidi boy who’s been separated from his family for years will be reunited with his mother in Winnipeg this week.

The Yazidi Association of Manitoba said 12-year-old Emad Mishko Tamo will arrive in Winnipeg Thursday just after midnight.

Tamo was captured by ISIS and separated from his family in 2014 when his village was attacked by terrorists.

When he was released, a relative recognized him in a photo posted to social media.

Tamo’s mother is a government sponsored refugee and lives in Winnipeg with her four other children.
