The assault trial for a long-time member of the Hells Angels began Tuesday morning in a Winnipeg courtroom.
Rodney Sweeney has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 5, 2013.
A 14-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man were riding bicycles in the area of Molson Street and Concordia Avenue at around 11 p.m.
Winnipeg police said at the time the pair was approached by a suspect in a vehicle who attacked them with a weapon.
The Crown opened its case by calling the youth victim to testify via closed-circuit TV.
The Crown showed the judge a videotaped interview between the youth victim and an officer with the Winnipeg Police Service.
The interview was done on Aug. 6, 2013.
In the interview, the youth told the officer he and the other man heard a voice in the back lane where they were riding bikes.
The youth said they were then confronted by two men driving a black SUV.
The vehicle stopped and a man with a weapon exited the passenger side, the youth said during the videotaped interview.
The youth said the suspect hit him with a weapon and that he suffered two cracks in the bone of his arm.
The trial is expected to last three days.
