Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck stopped 43 of 44 shots he faced Tuesday night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, backstopping the Jets to a 4-1 win over the Predators.
Hellebuyck faced 17 shots in the first period alone.
In comparison, the Jets registered just four shots on goal in the same period.
Drew Stafford gave the Jets a 1-0 lead on one of those shots while the Jets were on a power play, beating Pekka Rinne from in front of the net after getting a pass from Tyler Myers.
Stafford got his second of the night in the second period after tipping Toby Enstrom’s shot in front past Rinne—that goal also came on the power play.
Ben Chiarot added some insurance in the third.
His first goal of the season deflected off Mattias Ekholm’s stick and in to make it 3-0 Jets.
Winnipeg product Colin Wilson got the Predators on the board, but Alexander Burmistrov added an empty netter to make it 4-1.
With the win, the Jets move to within five points of the Predators for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.
Winnipeg continues their five-game road trip Thursday night against another Central Division opponent when they visit the Dallas Stars.
