Jets continue to try for first win of 2025 as Nashville Predators visit

The Winnipeg Jets are still looking for their first win of 2025, and maybe the third time is the charm.

The Jets have started off the new year with a pair of losses at home at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks and Detroit Red Wings.

In that time, they have been bumped out of the top spot in the NHL, falling to third. They are also just two points up on the Minnesota Wild, who are trying to claw first in the Central Division away from Winnipeg.

It will be a familiar foe at Canada Life Centre Tuesday night; for the second time in just over a week, the Jets will clash with the Nashville Predators.

Winnipeg beat Nashville 3-0 on Dec. 30, but the Predators have so far won a pair of games in 2025, only giving up a single goal in that time.

"I think both times we've played Nashville, they've played us really well. I think you look at their roster, you look at the makeup of their team, and I don't know if I would have predicted them to be where they're at. I think they're a much better team than where they're at in the standings," said Jets captain Adam Lowry.

With the game against the Predators another Central Division showdown, Head Coach Scott Arniel said there is a little extra motivation to try and grab the win.

"When we play these teams, there's always a little spice to them, and I think that it's no different," said Arniel. "They took us to the third period the last time we played them—we scored a goal in the second, then got a couple in the third, but they're a tough out… There's no easy opponent, and you have to make sure that we're at our best and making sure that we're making a hard night for them."

Despite the two losses to start 2025, Arniel said he liked his team's play in both games, but they were unable to capitalize on some chances.

He said the players must continue to play how they have played, and the results will come.

"We gave up the power play goals in that Detroit game, but what we did five-on-five was a lot of good things, and we have to continue that."

Colin Miller will not be in the lineup Tuesday as he suffered a fractured larynx last game. Arniel said he will be out for two weeks as he can't take any contact while he heals.

Connor Hellebuyck is also still trying to get his 300th career win, as he has been stuck on 299 since grabbing the win against Nashville at the end of December.

Puck drop Tuesday is at 7 p.m.
