Construction work is underway for a new outlet mall in the city.
During an official groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning, Ivanhoe Cambridge and partners launched construction work for Outlet Collection Winnipeg.
Deputy Premier Kerri Irvin-Ross and city councillor Marty Morantz were also at the ceremony
The new outlet mall is going up in the north-west quadrant of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway.
The $200 million project is a first for Winnipeg.
“Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be a destination in itself. It will also be a bit larger than initially announced. The centre will now include over 400,000 square feet of pure outlet shopping experience and more than 100 outlet brands," said Paul Gleeson, the vice president of global development at Ivanhoe Cambridge.
Outlet Collection Winnipeg is set to open in May 2017. Click here to see the virtual layout of the mall.
