A cyclist discovered a dead body in a wooded area near Birds Hill Park, sparking an RCMP investigation into what police label a suspicious death.

The body has been identified as 23-year-old Anthony Dwayne Prince. The cyclist discovered the body at about 8:15 p.m. Monday evening in some bush behind a home near Lorne Hill Road and Hazelridge Road.

An autopsy is now being conducted at the Health Sciences centre to determine how the man died.

Officers were canvassing people in the area asking them if they had seen anything suspicious in the area.

Oakbank RCMP, with the assistance of the Winnipeg RCMP Serious Crimes Unit, the Winnipeg RCMP Major Crime Unit and the Winnipeg RCMP Forensic Identification Section are investigating.
