Two in critical condition after house fire in Fort Garry

Two people were taken to hospital in critical condition after a house fire in Winnipeg’s Fort Garry neighbourhood.

According to the city, the blaze broke out in a two-storey house in the first block of Riverside Drive.

When crews arrived, they found flames and heavy smoke billowing from the building. Firefighters launched an attack from the outside before it was safe to conduct a search and extinguish the fire from inside the home.

The fire was declared under control at 1:18 a.m.

The cause is under investigation.
