Threats have forced the closure of two Winnipeg schools on Monday.

According to Pembina Trails School Division, a bomb threat for Oak Park School was made Sunday evening. The Winnipeg Police Service was called immediately Monday and dispatched to the school.

In a statement, Shelley Amos, superintendent and CEO of the Pembina Trails School Division, said the school was searched Monday by police, who said it was safe to re-enter.

“There will be a police presence at Oak Park tomorrow to support the school in a return to regular classes,” Amos said in a statement. “Our divisional clinical support team will be onsite to provide assistance to staff and students.”

The Winnipeg School Division is also reporting that Elmwood High School is closed Monday due to a threat against the school.

Winnipeg police said both schools will remain closed Monday due to the investigation, and police will release additional updates when they are available.
