The Winnipeg Police Service and RCMP spent Monday in an investigation near St. Malo. A body was recovered from a vehicle.
Sources tell CTV News the case near St. Malo and the investigation into the killing of Camille Runke outside her workplace in St. Boniface on Friday are linked.
Residents reported police activity started around 10 a.m. as cruisers rushed through town, located about 75 kilometres south of Winnipeg.
They concentrated on a property on Lambert Road, off Highway 59, near the town.
A large police presence included the tactical team and forensics unit.
Winnipeg police confirmed their involvement with a Tweet Monday afternoon.
Police said it's part of an ongoing investigation but couldn't comment on the specifics.
Police allowed residents to leave the area but did not allow them to return.
Around 8:30 p.m., a car was towed from the property onto the road. It appeared a body in a tarp was removed from the car on a gurney and transferred into a coroner's van.
