Costco has recalled a brand of roasted chicken salad due to the possibility of listeria.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the Kirkland Signature brand of roasted chicken salad was distributed to most provinces in the country including Manitoba.
People should not consume the recalled products as follows:
Roasted chicken salad, any size, UPC starts with 2 47321 and 2 47319
All Best Before dates up to and including 2015 AL 03.
The salads should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
The CFIA also advises that listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled, but can still cause illnesses.
Contaminated food can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, severe headaches and muscle aches. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
In severe cases of illness, people may die.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
