The deadline is fast approaching for Manitobans to nominate a tree to the Amazing Tree Quest.
River West is an organization working to make the Red River Corridor a tourist destination from Emerson to Lake Winnipeg.
This spring and summer the group asked people to nominate a tree in the region.
People can nominate a tree that is big, old, striking, or just one of their favourites.
The hope is to draw attention to the natural beauty of the Red River corridor, encourage people to explore, and highlight the importance of trees.
Trees nominated on crown land will be assessed by a committee and could be designated a heritage tree, protected by legislation.
The winners will be chosen with the help of the Manitoba Forestry Association, and are expected to be announced by the end of the week.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, but nominations will still be accepted until Tuesday.
