A Manitoba father and his young son are recovering after being shot inside their home on the weekend.
Jordan Ducharme and his three-year-old son Howard Muswagon were in their house on Norway House Cree Nation on Saturday.
Ducharme was cooking supper when he heard a snowmobile pull up.
A man with his face covered walked up to the door.
"All I could remember seeing was his eyes, his small little beady eyes," said Ducharme.
The suspect asked for Ducharme by name.
"He pulled out the rifle and I slammed the door," said Ducharme.
Seconds later, the suspect started firing. Inside the home were a number of Ducharme's children, including an eight-month-old child.
Three-year-old Muswagon was hit in the calf.
"He's got his bandage that we have to change every morning," said Ducharme.
Ducharme was shot in the thigh.
The two were flown to Winnipeg for treatment in hospital. They were released a day later and are expected to make full recoveries.
Ducharme still has the bullet in his leg, however.
The 23-year-old said he doesn't know why his family was targeted.
"What happened is ridiculous. It shouldn't have happened this way," said Ducharme.
He hopes a suspect is caught soon.
As of Tuesday, no arrests had been announced.
Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
