The federal government held an announcement Tuesday in Winnipeg about funding for 50 research projects across the country, including at Red River College.

The funding is aimed at supporting innovation in areas such as information and communication technologies, energy and natural resources, health sciences and environmental technologies, said the government.

“Collaboration among government, applied researchers and the private sector is vital to building an innovative economy,” said Minister of State Gary Goodyear in a statement about the College and Community Innovation Program.

A total of 50 partnerships between colleges, universities and business partners will receive funding through the $17 million program.

Red River College is getting close to $1.7 million through the CCI Program for an advanced aerospace initiative, aimed at helping aerospace companies improve their products.
