Damage is estimated at $200,000 following a fire at the Royal Canadian Mint.

Fire crews were called to the mint shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.

The fire broke out in some equipment used to test coin-making plates.

Spokesperson Christine Aquino says employees were evacuated safely and production resumed within a few hours.

No injuries were reported.

The Winnipeg fire department says the fire was caused by overheated electrical equipment, and was contained by the building's sprinkler system.
