The Winnipeg Jets are on a roll, with points in each of their last five games heading into Thursday’s matchup against the Dallas Stars.
Patrik Laine, however, is not.
“Right now I’m struggling," said Laine after Thursday's morning skate. “It feels like hockey is really hard right now.”
When asked what part of his game he felt was struggling, Laine, who has four goals in 11 games, was blunt.
“Just ice hockey,” Laine admitted. “I don’t have a lot of confidence”
Head coach Paul Maurice was quick to jump to his star’s aid, assuring that he wasn’t worried about the early slump.
“He’s going through what (young players) go through,” said Maurice. “It’s coming, he’s going to score. I’m not concerned at all.”
Laine and the Jets go for their third straight win at Bell MTS Place with puck drop at 7 p.m. Thursday.
