A 53-foot wide, eight-foot high sign declaring ‘Winnipeg’ will be installed this week at The Forks.
It will be located near the festival stage, and put up in time for the Canada Summer Games.
In a release, Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman said, “This sign, located at one of our busiest gathering places, is a great way to promote our city and be an important piece of the Games.”
The construction of the sign, budgeted near $120,000, is funded by the city’s Civic Initiatives Fund.
The sign is expected to be installed on Wednesday.
The inaugural lighting of the sign will take place Saturday during the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Jeux du Canada Games Festival at The Forks.
