Some of the men Graham James sexually abused say Manitoba is doing the right thing by seeking a harsher punishment for their former junior hockey coach.

Manitoba's Justice Department is appealing the two-year sentence James received for the hundreds of times he molested two teenage players -- Former NHL star Theo Fleury and his cousin, Todd Holt.

The Crown had asked for a six-year sentence, but under the sentence he was handed, James could apply for parole and be released by the end of the year.

Holt says he's happy the sentence is being appealed because it sends an important message to other child molesters and their victims.

Greg Gilhooly, one of James's alleged victims, said the same thing.

And former NHLer Sheldon Kennedy -- also abused by James -- says he just hopes the appeal is allowed to proceed.
