Fans at home are feeling the excitement and the nerves with the Winnipeg Jets on the road in Colorado just one win away from punching their ticket to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
"Nervous excitement. Don't want to jinx it,” said Jets’ fan Brent Stevenson.
While anything can happen on the ice, the Jets do have the odds stacked in their favour.
After Monday's victory against Minnesota, the team had a 67 per cent chance of making the playoffs.
Sports Club Stats said the win in St. Louis bumped their probability of making the post-season up to 92 per cent.
“They're going to do it. I got faith," said fan Bob Cavanaugh.
It's win and get in - the Jets would clinch a playoff berth with a victory Thursday night against the Colorado Avalanche.
They would also get in with an overtime or shootout loss coupled with a Los Angeles Kings’ loss to Calgary in either regulation, overtime or the shootout.
The Jets can even get in if they lose in regulation to Colorado as long as the Kings also lose in regulation.
“It’s an opportunity for the city to shine,” said True North Sports & Entertainment president of development Jim Ludlow.
Ludlow said the playoff push itself has already created a buzz.
"It'd obviously be very, very significant for us and very significant for the community. We're watching it minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour,” said Ludlow.
If the Jets lose Thursday night and the Kings win, then the team’s playoff fate will be decided Saturday afternoon.
That’s when the Flames visit Winnipeg for the final game of the regular season.
