Jets sign forward Evgeny Svechnikov to one-year, two-way contract

The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Evgeny Svechnikov on a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The deal carries an average annual of US$750,000 in the NHL.

Svechnikov, 24, recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) in 21 games for the Detroit Red Wings last season.

The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia native has played 41 games over four seasons for the Red Wings since turning professional in 2016, recording 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and 20 penalty minutes.

At the American Hockey League level, Svechnikov has 101 points (39 goals, 62 assists) over 192 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins.

He helped the Griffins to a Calder Cup title in 2017.
