Officers have laid charges for a shooting at the start of August that sent a 25-year-old victim to hospital.

Winnipeg police were called to the 600 block of Alexander Avenue on Aug. 4 around 10 p.m.

A 25-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. Paramedics transported the victim to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded to stable.

Following an investigation by the major crimes unit, an arrest was made on Aug. 16.

Thomas Ross Halpin, 24, faces multiple charges, including discharge of a firearm with intent, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while prohibited, said police.
