A 49-year-old man drowned at St. Malo Provincial Park Beach on Friday.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 7:49 p.m. They received a report about a man who is a non-swimmer in distress in the lake.
Local emergency crews tried unsuccessfully to find the victim. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team recovered the man Saturday morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still investigating the cause of the drowning, although they don’t suspect foul play.
Police will not release the name of the victim.
St. Malo Provincial Park Beach is closed this time of year and the safety line marking deep water has been removed, police said in a news release.
