WINNIPEG -- Manitoba New Democrats are accusing a Liberal candidate of breaking the provincial election law by also working as an enumerator.

The NDP has filed a complaint with the provincial elections commissioner about Joanne Levy, who is running for the Liberals in Gimli.

Before being officially nominated as a candidate, Levy worked as an enumerator -- going door to door and compiling voter lists -- in the adjacent constituency of Lakeside.

The NDP says that violates sections of the law that say enumerators are to be non-partisan and cannot be nominated as candidates.

The New Democrats also say Levy appears to have broken a section of law that says voter lists cannot be used for partisan purposes.

Levy says she has done nothing wrong, and finished her work as an enumerator a few weeks before she became interested in running for the Liberals.
