Overnight fire at under-construction apartment building causes $50,000 in damages

Fire crews battled flames in Royalwood overnight.

The fire broke out at an apartment building under construction on Creek Bend Road around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Officials said Styrofoam insulation on the building's roof was on fire.

The fire caused around $50,000 in damages.

There were no injuries.

The cause is under investigation.
