Winnipeg police received word of a ‘weapon-related’ incident in the Grant Park area of River Heights area around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said they were in the Sobey’s parking lot on Taylor Avenue.

“We are in the area, and we will likely be there for a while,” said Const. Jason Michalyshen.

Police could not say what the weapon was or if what seen inside a store or outside.

As a result of the incident, Grant Park High School went into lockdown.

The lockdown at the high school was lifted around 3 p.m.

Police say a school lockdown is normal for this type of call.

The forensics unit and the tactical were both on scene.

Police released few details on the incident Wednesday night.

Officers cleared the area around 7 p.m.
