WINNIPEG - Manitoba's Opposition party has picked its candidate for an upcoming byelection in the Morris constituency south of Winnipeg.
Shannon Martin won the Progressive Conservative nomination unopposed.
Martin is a former Tory researcher and later served as Manitoba director of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
The Morris constituency has been held by the Tories since 1966 -- the party captured 73 per cent of the vote in the 2011 election.
The seat has been vacant since Mavis Taillieu (TAHL'-you) resigned in January.
Premier Greg Selinger has yet to set a date for the byelection, which could be held as late as January.
