A late spring snow storm hit parts of Manitoba Tuesday, bringing back memories of a massive snowstorm that struck the province 19 years ago.
Starting on April 5, 1997, a record of 48 centimetres of snow fell in Winnipeg over a 24-hour period.
The storm shut down the entire city.
Schools and highways were closed and abandoned vehicles littered the city.
Flights were cancelled, planes were grounded and travellers were stranded.
The 1997 flood of the century followed a few weeks later.
