Candidates to become Winnipeg’s next mayor gathered for a forum on indigenous issues at Thunderbird House Saturday afternoon.
"We all have a role to play in what actually occurs," said Robert-Falcon Ouellette.
How the candidates would handle the need for an inquiry on missing and murdered indigenous women was one of topics up for debate.
Organizers say they wanted to hold the event at Thunderbird House to make it more open to people in the community
"Having a venue to where they would feel more comfortable coming out and hopefully engaging with the candidates," said Silva Boudreau of Indigenous Rock the Vote.
One candidate was not invited. Boudreau says Gord Steeves was not invited because she said his interest is not with indigenous people.
CTV made calls to the Steeves campaign but they were not immediately returned.
