Thousands gathered at the Manitoba legislature grounds Sunday for the largest pride parade in Winnipeg's history.

Floats were seen being prepped in parking lots around downtown Winnipeg early Sunday morning, ahead of the pride parade kick off at noon.

More than 1,600 people were expected to march, while 70 floats were entered for the event. The parade wound through Memorial Boulevard, York Avenue, Garry Street and Broadway Avenue to finish where it began at the Manitoba legislature.

The weather held up, with clear skies and a promised high of 24 C.

Festivities continued late into the evening with an official closing party held at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre.

The events cap off a week of festivities celebrating Winnipeg’s LGBTTQ community, which included an inaugural Pride Run, events on the evolution of LGBTTQ rights and a full slate of performances for the Pride Festival Saturday.
