The man found guilty of killing a single mother in May 2011 is appealing his conviction.

Last month, a jury found Schuyler Van Wissen guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Gina Swanson.

He was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole in 25 years.

Van Wissen filed an application to appeal that conviction on Tuesday.

The court document cites 24 grounds, including that alleged errors may have been made by the judge.

During the trial, the court heard that DNA, that likely matched Van Wissen’s, was found on Swanson’s body.

His lawyer, Martin Glazer, argues the judge should have ruled the DNA evidence as inadmissible.
