A Winnipeg restaurant is back in business after frozen pipes forced it to shut its doors for almost two months.

Foon Haion William is once again serving up food. Monday was the first time they’re done that since March 3.

That's when the owners turned on the taps and found nothing coming out.

During the nearly two months it was closed the owners still had to pay their bills and were forced to lay off all their staff. All the employees have now returned but the restaurant is still on the hook for all its losses.

“We pay good money for what we call business interruption insurance,” said owner, Dare. “But the insurance does not cover a frozen pipe coming into the building,”

Despite having no running water, Foon Hai also received an estimated $600 water bill from the city for the last three months.

Dare plans to submit a meter reading to have that amount reduced.
