RCMP announced Nov. 7 that several suspects were apprehended for damaging a historical site in 2011.

Vandals struck the 130-year-old Criddle / Vane Homestead southeast of Brandon multiple times during the summer, fall and early winter of 2011, said RCMP.

After the story was publicized through media, including CTV Winnipeg, police said they received several tips and were able to identify five youth suspects from the rural Brandon area.

The youths were referred to a justice program through the John Howard Society Justice Committee. Penalties ranged from 24 hours of community service to a $300 donation to the Criddle / Vane committee which maintains the historical site, said RCMP.

Police thanked members of the public for their help in the investigation.
