Winnipeg police have made two arrests in a pair of child sexual abuse imagery investigations.

The first investigation began in February, when the Internet Child Exploitation Unit was told a Winnipeg resident uploaded a child sexual abuse image. The unit determined the same person had also exchanged child porn images via email in March of 2013.

Police said the suspect uploaded more child porn pictures in February and April of 2016.

Officers searched a home in the Inkster-Faraday area on March 7 and seized a man's computer. On the computer, police found nearly 2,000 images and videos of kids involved in various sex acts with others kids and adults.

Police said Matthew Adam MacNeil, 29, from Winnipeg was charged on Wednesday with a number of child pornography offences.

The other arrest happened the same day MacNeil was charged.

Police said after a lengthy investigation, they found out a Winnipeg resident uploaded child sexual abuse imagery from a known chat room site.

The image was reported to the ICE unit.

Police said they searched a home in the north St. Boniface area on July 11 and a number of electronic devices were seized. Police also searched a vehicle where more electronics were found.

Mattieu Gauthier, 32, from Winnipeg was charged with a number of child pornography offences.
