Beer drinkers in Manitoba will pay by the buzz. The province is revamping its minimum-price policy.

The social responsibility premium is a flat rate of $5.65 per litre that has applied to all beer brands with an alcohol content of seven per cent or more.

That flat rate will be replaced with a sliding scale that will calculate the minimum price based on alcohol content- the higher the content, the higher the price.

As of June 2, 2014 prices will go up for some discount beers.
