Road construction, combined with rush hour traffic and extra vehicles on the road carrying fans to an exhibition football, game could test the patience of Winnipeg drivers Monday evening.

Parts of Pembina Highway have lanes closed in each direction as a result of the road work.

Traffic was a concern when Investors Group Field opened and that was one of the reasons the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers teamed up to provide free transit rides to and from the stadium for fans during the inaugural season at IGF.

But the two parties failed to come to an agreement on how to divide the costs of that program and this season fans are responsible for paying their own way to the game while the team picks up the cost of bus fare after the game.

Park and ride stations will cost five dollars this season but the team announced they would be free for Monday’s exhibition game against the Toronto Argonauts.
