A Manitoba youth wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for a June shooting that left another youth in critical condition is in police custody.
Police responded to the 400 block of Pacific Avenue on a report of a male possibly armed with a gun shortly before noon on Friday. Members of the Canine Unit and Tactical Support team found the teen a short while later, hiding in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue.
Police issued a warrant for two counts of attempted murder for the arrest the 14-year-old in connection with a shooting on June 24 in the area of Sherbrook Street and Wolseley Avenue. Around 1:30 a.m., shots were fired at a parked vehicle, hitting a 17-year-old occupant.
The victim made his way to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police charged the 14-year-old with multiple offences including two counts of attempted murder and numerous firearms offences. He is in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
