A water main break at Jefferson Avenue and Adsum Drive in Winnipeg froze vehicles to the street Tuesday morning.
“I was driving to work this morning around 6:30 and I was stuck in the water,” said Jose Tabios.
Tow trucks worked for hours trying to free the vehicles from the ice.
“There’s a few cars still stuck,” said Tabios, “So they’ve got to do them first and then mine later.”
Residents in Charleswood said they were still using a city water truck because service had not been restored to their homes two days after a water main break on Laxdal Road.
“It’s been kind of difficult the last couple of days,” said resident Darren Ivison, “Because we have little ones and it’s hard to get stuff done, laundry, dishes, and get the kids going.”
Crews shut off the water Sunday when ankle-deep water threatened nearly 40 homes.
