The City is scrambling to fix a laundry list of safety issues and other problems with the three-year old Cube stage in the Exchange.

Brian Timmerman of the Exchange District Biz who looks after the stage said the giant metal curtain does not open properly and when it does it scraps away at the stage’s concrete wall.

He said several lights in the structure and around the property have never worked properly. Timmerman also said he’s worried people could trip on light fixtures on the second floor of the stage.

The City said some of the project’s $1.2 million cost is being withheld from the contractor and the architect who designed the structure. Warranty work is also being done.

City officials said if the problems can’t be fixed within the original budget, they will contemplate legal action.
