Scott Fielding says he is out.
The St. James Brooklands councillor said he will not run for mayor.
He compared the number of right-of-centre candidates running for the job to a train wreck, as it leaves the door open for Judy Wasylycia-Leis on the left if she decides to step up.
So far, Gord Steeves, Paula Havixbeck and Brian Bowman have declared they’re running for mayor. Mayor Sam Katz has yet to make a decision.
Fielding also says he will not seek re-election as a councillor.
He will make his future plans known in a few weeks. Fielding, a conservative, would not say if he is planning to run for provincial or federal office.
