The city will continue efforts to control elm bark beetles if the weather holds off. Elm bark beetles are known to be carriers of Dutch Elm Disease.

Crews will spray insect management areas 19, 20, 25, 41, and 40 on Monday between 5:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Spraying will continue until Thursday, weather permitting.

A complete map of insect treatment areas can be found here.

Crews will spray Chlorpyrifos onto the lower 50 centimetres of tree trunks. The product has been approved for use by Health Canada.

The city offers phone and email notifications for all elm bark beetle control activities. To sign up, you can visit the city’s website or call 311.
