If you love short films, hockey and the outdoors, you may want to head to The Forks on Friday.

The Canadian Sport Film Festival is hosting a free outdoor screening of a handful of films.

One of the shorts film is based on the Winnipeg Victorias. The team from the Manitoba Hockey Association won the Stanley Cup three times in the late 1890s and early 1920s.

The Canadian Sport Film Festival is three years old in Winnipeg.

The festival's goal is to bring together films from around the world that tell stories beyond the sporting field.

This weekend's festival will also have two screenings Saturday at the Park Theatre on Osborne.
