Winnipeg firefighters were hard-pressed to deal with a string of overnight fires suspected to be arsons.
Investigators are looking into the cause of a garage fire in the 700 block of Toronto Street early Saturday morning.
Fire crews were called out around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. The fire started in the garage in the rear of the building.
The fire caused $22,000 in damages.
The fire fighters union said crews were busy in the core area dealing with nine fires overnight that are most likely arsons.
Winnipeg has seen a spike in arsons over the last few weekends. The union that represents members of Winnipeg's fire department said the extreme heat, combined with an increase in arsons, is putting a strain on firefighters.
