IKEA has recalled a chocolate spread sold in their stores after the product was improperly labeled.

In a news release Thursday, IKEA Canada says the product – called Chokladrokant Bredbar - is a chocolate-flavoured spread with butterscotch pieces. The product may also contain tree nuts, which was not properly indicated on the label.

IKEA Canada says people with an allergy to tree nuts should not consume the product. All of the 400 gram jars, up to and including July 28, 2016, are included in the recall.

The media release warns all recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

IKEA said they initiated the recall but the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
