Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect who shot a 20-year-old man during a confrontation in the West End on Wednesday.

Around 8:40 p.m., a group of males got into an argument near Sargent Avenue and Young Street, police said. The confrontation grew physical and one of the males pulled out a gun and fired it, hitting the victim in the upper body, police said.

The victim fled to hospital where police met him, but police say he is not cooperating with the investigation. He has since been released from hospital.

Officers were looking for casings and slugs outside a Sargent Avenue strip mall Thursday night.
