WINNIPEG - The Manitoba government appears open to the possibility of banning Russian booze in government-run liquor stores.
The idea was raised in the legislature by the Opposition Progressive Conservatives, who say it would be one way to protest the crisis in Crimea.
The minister responsible for the gaming control act, Dave Chomiak, called the suggestion "valid."
He says it could work as part of a larger set of economic sanctions against Russia, which are being discussed with the federal government.
Any booze ban might be hard to notice, however.
The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation lists only three products from Russia in its online catalogue -- two vodkas and one beer.
